3rd Generation Torn wiring and some other stuff, help please :)

Hi guys. I'm new to getting dirty with cars so bare with me if i'm a little vague with this.

Got a 95 Camry LE. At first I had a high idle, which was fixed. I think I cleaned out some valves, not sure what the solution was (several weeks ago I stopped working on this for the holiday rush). I found out how though via this forum so credit goes to here for that

Anyway, problem 1:

There is 0 power when giving it gas. Is this related to the Throttle Position Sensor on the throttle assembly?

The TPS was actually removed and replaced. Could it have been put back improperly? Should I just grab the whole throttle assembly from a dead camry at the junkyard (well, where the camry just arrived of course)?

Problem 2:

The VSV for EGR connector is torn. This is the way I received the car. Finally found this out and wanted to know where I can get a replacement. Should I try to solder it in place (there's not much to work with on the connector)? Photos below:

As you can see, it's just not connected.

Another glorious shot.

I appreciate any input you guys can give.

Check out the Harness Repair section of the on line manual for tips on repairing the plug that you show.

I am uncertain what you mean by 0 power. A clearer description might help. Is there no change in RPM when you press the accelerator? Is the engine responding to the accelerator but the car is not moving? Does the condition change if the engine is cold or at operating temp?

Thanks for the harness manual mention. I had overlooked it and it looks like that will definately help me out.

My friend took the car battery (leaving me this dead one ) so i'll have to go pick it up to get those RPM readings and clarify those things you asked. Will update thread asap.

Unless this is an unusual TPS; Yes, the TPS must be properly aligned (and on the Supras) requires a fine enough of an adjustment that a feeler gauge and multi-meter are recommended for installation and calibration. The throttle angle combined with the speed at which it is changing are very very important numbers for the ecu.

Finally got around to all this. I repaired the cables, came out perfect.

Some RPM check info I did:

The idle rpm was at about 800. Did not fluctuate. When put in drive, the rpm drops to <500, starts dancing (vibrating quite a bit), then that's the end of that, car off. The accelerator seems to have no effect on the engine. There's no power in that the max rpm reaches 1250, nothing more.

Engine temp doesn't seem to have an effect on this issue.

I hope that helps. Apologize for not responding sooner, appreciate all the input.

In addition to what dc_98_cam suggested, consider a clogged catalytic converter or a simple igniton system problem. Ignition problems could be faulty spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, distributor rotor or a defective (usually cracked) or weak coil. Sometimes we forget the basics when troubleshooting problems and move on to more complicated things. These cars are still internal combustion engines.
