3rd Generation ATF for a '96 V6

A few questions about the correct transmission fluid for a '96 V6...

1) Is Dexron III the correct stuff to use? Toyota brand?

2) Four quarts enough for the both the transmission and differential?

3) At 113,600 miles, should the filter be replaced?

Finally, did I leave anything out for this transmission drain/refill job?

The only record I have of the last transmission/diff fluid job was @ 45,000 miles..

I'm not sure, but you can look at the end of the trans dip stick, and in very faint letters, if it says
TYPE T-IV, then you should use Toyota OEM T-IV ATF. This seems to be specific to the V6 automatic version. I know the T-IV is used in the Gen 5 V6, but I'm not completely sure about Gen 3 and Gen 4. .... I would not use the DEX III fluid, if your dip stick says T-IV. ... I just made that mistake recently, and am doing several drain/refills to try to rectify the situation. The quantity that will drain out ... transmission plus differential, is about 3.6 qts. .... I think the T-IV fluid has different characteristics than the DEX III. I'm not sure about the long term effects, though.
