I prefer a CAI only because i was to broke to afford a SRI at the time well either way all the parts cost me around 60 or 70 bucks i forgot. and install was pretty easy took like 30 minutes even though i didnt know what i was doing, after all that was done it works fine even in all the rain that Washington has.

if you are talking like injen its like an extra 60-80 bucks usually for the cai extension i think and thats used... how did u get a cai for cheaper than an sri?
Made it myself lol. used flexflyte pipeing, the stuff race cars use to cool down brakes, so that garantee's cold air, routed it into my bumper where i stuck a k&n filter, some clamps and zip ties and i was good. piping - $30, filter - $30, miscellaneous stuff - ~$10

If you don't eliminate the air muffler from the stock intake cold air ain't gonna get you much. That weird looking plastic thing in the middle of the stock intake is there to reduce noise for people who just want a quiet ride. I have heard of some taking that muffler out and using abs plastic pipe to replace making it a strait shot. Warning for shadetrees!!!! DO NOT USE PVC UNDER THE HOOD OF AN AUTOMOBILE!!! Its not made for the heat and can catch fire. Hope this help for your budget CAI. Send pics for all to see. I love macgyver stuff. Its all good LOL!!!!!
