Aftermarket Catalytic Converter

Hello,
I have a 1997 ES300, which is the same as the v6 camry. I replaced the aftermarket cat. converter three times and I'm having some problems with my Check Engine light. I'm wondering if anybody has replaced their original converter with the aftermarket catalytic converter? I'd like to know the manufacturer and the model number. I did use magnaflow and it did not work. Thank you in advance.

what code are you throwing? and if its the post-cat o2 sensor, have you tried changing the sensor instead of the cat?

problem could be in the aftermarket post-cat o2 sensor

there have been many problems reported with using non-oem o2 sensors in general, whereas pretty much nobody has reported problems with magnaflow cats

I myself am running a high performance magnaflow cat

i dont have the v6 motor, but i the converter i have on my car is from catco. i too got the 0420 code, but since the new cat the code hasnt been back.

on a side note, i heard that high performance cats have more of a tendency to throw codes because being high performance an d most likely straight through, they dont filter as well.

FYI

my two front O2 sensors and my other one after cat. O2 sensors are from toyota.

Two front were changed 6-7 months ago and after cat O2 sensor was changed with Cat. con.

4th Generation

Sidenote: all OBDII cars have to have a scan tool to erase codes immediately. Some codes are programed to see 30 plus engine cycles to reset a code. Hope this helps.

it means that some codes will reset only after the car has been turned on and off a certain number of times as well as driven a certain amount of distance as well

Engine cycle means that the computer sees the engine go from cold to fully warmed up.
