Well, it's time for new tires on my mom's car. The current Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus tires are on their way out at only 3 years / 30K miles..and they weren't cheap! I was driving it the other day and rounded a corner on a wet roof top parking lot, and I heard a loud grinding noise as the car attempted to stay on track without success. The fronts just can't grip in wet weather anymore.. I've been researching tires and I think I'll get these: http://www.costco.com/Tires/Product....ed=H&Width=205
They're Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S tires. I originally wanted Michelin X-Radials but something about the speed rating isn't good enough, so Costco won't do the install.
What kind of tires do you guys have on your gen 3/3.5? Any other input is appreciated.. I never realized how important tire choice is. I've still got stock Bridgestone Potenza RE92s @ 26K miles on my car and I expect at least another 15-20K miles out of them no problem.
Anyway.. I don't come to the gen 3 forums too often but I thought I'd give a quick update on the car. It just rolled over 81K miles and it's running as smooth as ever. I just changed its oil and detailed it before the new year started . I'm very impressed with how well the car is holding up.. After 13 years it's STILL a great car to go cruising in and you gotta love that 1MZ
^ The gen 3/3.5 body style never ages eh? Still looks very classy!

Yokohama's are the best tires for the buck, Michelins and Good Years to me are a ripoff, I would never waste so much money on Michelin's unless i'm getting their high performance tires
I have Fuzions on my 96 Coupe and my wifes 04 Accord. Excellant tire for the money IMO! Look good, nice tread pattern, excellent grip wet or dry. I got em from Tire Rack.
The Michelins on the Honda (OEM) lasted less than 35K with regular 8k rotations, and were twice as much as the Fuzions to replace. The Fuzions are made in JAPAN, so i figured the would WTF! Should be OK!
I did recently buy Yoko Geolanders for my 03 Silverado, as a winter tire, and so far I'm very pleased with them too!
Check out tire rack..alot of good info about Tires there!

These are the tires I put on my Camry. $53 each is damn good.....even after paying shipping, and WalMart's mount and balance fees, I still saved over $100 or more over comparable tire from a local vendor.
I am pleased with them. They are for more conservative driving, but they do pretty well in aggressive driving too......just don't confuse them with "track" tires.
EDIT: I have 205/65/15 tires. I picked up some 2002 LE Camry wheels and wheels covers for dirt cheap for my 1993 I4 Camry.

Anyway, I had Michelin MXV4 Plus' as the original tires on my '99 Honda Accord, I hated them. Loud road noise and they had a tendency to slide on snow / ice. I replaced them after 40,000 or 45,000 miles with "Michelin Destiny", love them. In fact, I just put four on my '95 Camry, I4, LE (so 195/70R14), the total cost per tire with everything (mounting, old tire disposal, taxes, fees, etc etc) included was a little under $100 per tire. OK, that didn't include their road hazard warranty, but eveything else was included.
Michelin makes the same tire put puts different names on it for different sellers, the Michelin Destiny is sold only by Discount Tire / Tire America. The same tire is sold at Sam's Club as the Michelin Symmetry, and I believe that it is sold at other places under different names. I have had the X-Radial X's before on an older car, they worked well also.
Anyway, take a look at the Michelin Destiny from Tire America, or go back to Shopco and tell them to put the Radial X's on the car or you'll just go somewhere else. And what was the issue with the speed rating? Does your mom normally drive over 80 (or 100) miles per hour for extended periods of time? In a '95 Toyota Camry?
although i no longer run the stock tire size, the tires i have are available in the stock size.
i have kuhmo ecsta asx. they're great all-around tires. a bit on the noisy side (maybe since mine are 40 series) but wery nice tires nonetheless. with a 420 treat rating, these should last for quite some time, too.
i have also had great luck with Falkens but i'm not too sure if they are available in your size.

^Yea, I have the same tires on my car now and I am really impressed with their overall driving ability. They also came with a great warrenty so that helped offset their price a little.
Thanks for all the input everyone! Someone mentioned the Kumho Solus.. I liked the price and ratings on Tire Rack but shipping to Hawaii kills the deal . The Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S got great ratings on Tire Rack and will be $90-95 each before tax with Costco's current $60 off coupon on a set of four.
On a side note, where do you guys buy your tires? I'm looking at Costco just because of their current coupon. Other than that, it'd be Sam's Club since they're closer.

costco is only a great deal when you buy a set of 4 cuz that's when their coupons go in effect. my lame ass always has to buy 1 or 2 tires

Ha ha ha.. Yeah, my mom's car really only needs two new tires. But the tires aren't very good as it is and they seem to be cracking from the Hawaii heat (no covered parking) so I think it's best to change them all out.
