6" into a 5 1/4" hole?

hey all, first of all i'm new to the forum. but anyway, more to the point, i have a '95 camry, and i'm wanting to get rid of the stock speakers in my front doors, now i've got my eyes on some 6" splits with a 2" driver. however, i've done some research, and apparantly the stock speaker is a 5 1/4", therefore meaning it has the same size hole.

have any of you had any experience with 'upgrading' to a 6" speaker? i'm guessing i'll just have to drill extra holes in the door, but i'm still not sure if the speaker will even fit.

It will fit. The grill will only allow 5.25" of the speaker to be used since you have a bigger speaker, unless you use the grilles from the 6"s

The stock speakers are 6.5"s

I thought they were 5.25... well I also was going to say I have never heard of a "6 inch" speaker

yeah, they are definately 6"'s. i'm in australia, so we've most likely got different spec speakers and whatnot.
