Does anyone have any experience with disabling a daytime runninglight system? I heard it cannot be done but I'm pretty sure it's possible... There a few fuses that I saw (I think 2) that were for that system (1 SOLELY for that system). Would it be possible to disable the daytime runinglight system so I can drive with only parking lights or no lights during the day?
Thanks in advance
I was wondering about this myself. I hate running lights during the day. Or any method to disable automatic lights. Sometimes I see people driving around w/ no headlights on. I'm wondering if its cause they drive another car primarily, that has auto lights, and now they are driving their friends/moms/family car and they forgot... cause auto lights spoils you like that.
I really want to pull the fuse solely for daytime running lights, but I dont know if it will work and I figured I'd ask before I did anything like that :/
Looking at the DRL wiring diagram, it looks like the best bet might be to remove the DRL resistor, part D2, location on p. 28 of wiring diagram. This looks like it is a modular part, located under the hood, on the passenger side. ... Just unplug the connector. It is up next to the firewall, and will have a gray connector with two wires ... one wire is red with a black stripe, the other wire is white with a black stripe.
Be sure that you check the normal operation of your bright and dim headlights .... before and after removing the D2 resistor.
Post back if it works or not .... shouldn't hurt anything though.

I took a brief look earlier and I did not see it. I have a 2000 camry. Perhaps it's down a bit further than I thought, but I look at the top left of the hood near the diagnostics.
I'm also going to disable the "twilight" system since I read that on another thread too.

The color of the wires might be different ....guessing that it will be a gray connector of some sort though, probably over by the side of the engine bay, close to the firewall.

Yeah, definately NOT there... I only see the diagnostics and even if I go down there is only piping (metal) no wires except one black one. Let me take a picture and post. If anyone knows of hte alternate location of the DRL in a Toyota CAmry 2000 XLE let me know.

Just looked at my wife's 00 LE and could not find that grey connector either
Yeah.. I've run into a bit of a problem. I cannot find the DRL connector AND I also was going to disable the Twilight Sensor and I realized there are TWO sensors on my dash. Does anyone know which is which? (The Passenger Side one is purpler than the drivers side, and also the passenger's is bigger). Let me know if you know. thank you!
i got a 99 camry LE looking to get rid of the lights being partially lit durring broad daylight...i hate it.i want the freedom to have just parking lights on. so if i disconect that wire to the DRL system above...and tape it...my problem should be resolved?
Yeah. the problem is that (with my car at least) that wire isnt there. And the fuses dont kill my DRL, they kill my high beams. So. I'm STILL stuck with DRL. Any suggestions?
