4th Generation Shopping for low profile tires...still have questions

Hi there,

So far I've spent over a week researching and shopping for new wheels and tires for my gen 4.5. I finally have been able to settle on the wheel design I want, along with the right offset. I'm getting 18x7.5 with a +40mm offset. Now I'm looking into tires. I am settling for some Goodyear Eagle F1 All-season 225/40/18. However, I am concerned with the load index rating. The Michelins I have on my factory wheels right now have a load index of 94, or 1477 lbs. The Goodyear F1 have a load index of 92, or 1389 lbs. Should this cause any concern? To me, it doesn't seem like too big of a difference and the Goodyear have an "XL" marking so I guess they can handle extra load than other tires of the same size? Please let me know what you guys think. Thank you.

I would run 235/40/18 just to be on the safe side. I prefer that over 225 because it gives me a little thicker sidewall for potholes. You might need some fender rolling tho.

Yeah, you'll only have problems if you strap another Camry onto your roof.

I'd stick with the 225s to avoid clearance problems as well as save a bit of weight on the tire

unless you're putting down serious power, the 225 would be more than enough rubber for you anyway
