Maint for 97 Camry 116k

Just bought a 97 Camry 116k (1 owner, pretty nice shape)
experienced cold starting issues (Thats been resolved)

Found out that the timing belt has not been changed, My plan is to change that ASAP. Should I change the water pump at the same time.

What about Trans fluid, Spark plugs, Spark plug wires, Anti Freeze???

Anything else I should be looking for, upfront, before it goes into shop??

definatly change that belt if its never been changed, and yeah, the water pump too. id check the trans, oil and cooling fluids to makes sure everything is as it should be. depending on when last they were changed the sparkplugs might be a good idea as well.

lastly if its the 4cyl, id pop off the valve cover and check for any sludge, just in case.

I am picking car up tonight.

I will get to you with all info on Mon.

It sounds like it's really just cleaning (with a carb cleaner) into
????? to free up a small valve thats sticking

The problem lies in the "Idle Contol Valve"

Try looking at
98 Camry Randomly Dies After Cold Start

I was shown where the valve was.
It sounds like a hose was removed and sprayed with carb cleaner
It sounds like this is a common problem (From Dealer).
The valve get's varnished and is prevented from operating. (I'm not a mechanic, Im speaking in laymans terms)
The hose thats removed is "timed" in some way so be carefull (when disassembling & assembling)
I know that I'm not telling you exactly how to do it. you may need to look up the procedure. But this was the problem for my car and the Idle controll valve is where you need to look.

I hope this works for you.
