Gen 1 - 6 Camry Repair Manuals and Question

Hey guys,

Just found an awesome Gen 4 repair manual... link in sticky thread was bad, so I thought I would post it here.

http://camrystuff.com/index.php?page=Gen4_Manuals

I'm replacing the timing belt, but I cannot figure out what kind of engine I have. I've heard people on the forums reference different engines, and I went outside and looked at mine for awhile, but couldn't figure anything out.

It's a 2001 4cyl Camry CE. Does anyone know what kind of engine this one came with? Or did it vary? Any way I can find out?

Thanks,

Zac

PS Enjoy the repair manuals.

Thanks for helping me figure that out. Is that a good motor? Is there an easy way to see what kind of motor you have for future reference?

Thanks again,

Zac

The motor is very reliable if not hot rodded too much. It was designed with low-end torque and fuel economy in mind.

Most engines have some designation on them such as CC size and you can count the number of cylinders. A Google search with this info plus the cars model and year will result in many hits. Winkipedia also has a lot of info on engine types and which car models they were used in.
