Hey guys, Every time i do an in depth inspection on my engine i notice that the coolant tank seems to loose like a cup or two of coolant. I just always top it off, but its odd. I have no apearant leak and it does loose very little. I cant figure it out. Its a 4cyl 01 with 60000 miles on it.

Everything looks good. I do part outside. I do smell coolant in the engine bay when its hot but i cant locate any type of leak. It just vanishes little by little. It has to be a small leak on a seal someware.

check where the hoses meet, as well as look for small leaks in your radiator fins- for small leaks, you will be looking for crystallized coolant, and not actual leaks....quite often it will be missed on the radiator fins

One other place to check is the actual water pump itself ....There is a small opening on the outer perimeter, maybe a 1/4" diameter. If the shaft seal on the pump is bad, you will typically find evidence of precipitate or mineral buildup. The actual fluid will have evaporated due to the engine heat. ... Might be a good idea to have a pressure check done on the coolant system .... usually a good way to tell if something is wrong or not.
Requires a gauge type manual pump that attaches with an adapter to the radiator fill neck. ... I bought my own, but most shops will have one.

As stated check the radiator for leaks. It is possible a radiator pin hole leak only occurs at higher coolant system pressures such as over 10 PSI, with the radiator being hot the coolant evaporates. Also check the plastic air dam below the radiator for signs of coolant as it might collect here.
mine was cracked and i had coolant leaking/evaporating. look under/around the reservoir to see if there any sign of moistures or leakages.

Its so little for now ill let it go untill i see large amounts of coolant disapearing. Thank for the info. It may be a leak in the cooling fins on the rad. The hoses are good.
