3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I'm talking about the black rubber piece that runs along the bottom of the 3rd gen doors. Subsequently, did anyone also paint the black plastic piece that runs right below the black rubber pieces on the doors?
i'm talking about the pieces circled in yellow.
my idea is to color match them . anyone done it or have any feedback on that?

When I first bought my Camry 6 years ago, I was going to paint the rocker panels. but then I noticed the "rubber flap" at the bottom of each door. I didn't want to remove for fear of adding wind noise, or letting in carbon monoxide or anything like that......plus it'd look silly to have everything be white , but then have black rubber at the bottom of the doors for seemingly no reason.
And then there's rock chips to deal with.....this isn't a show car for me, I need to drive it in all conditions through all terrains. Mine's still black for what it's worth. (as you can tell by my sig picture....it looks like a 4x4 as high as my Armada!)

I'm the biggest boss thatchu seen thus far! Baby, that's muh wi'zzard!
thing is though, if you look at it from the side, even the stock bumpers are painted lower than the black portions.
so basically, by painting it white, it would be equal . i dunno...i think so at least. any more feedback?

and it looks pretty good...makes the car look lower. but it's more of a thing for people with lighter color cars though. for people with black/green/white cars, it's not really noticeable.
the rubber can be prepped and painted just like any other material. I had to repaint mine every couple of years until I kitted my car though, since the rocks get at it real good

^^ white is the lightest a car can go... wouldn't it make it even more noticeable?
i guess all you guys did it way back then, before i even joined...or probably had a driver's license. well anyway, i'm gonna try to photoshop it and maybe try the real thing out later.

^^^ yeah it was hard to notice that i painted it. but give you the look that you know something has been done but you arent sure what it is. and i painted my muffler (rice or not, looks a lot better), lift point rail, and the lower frame (not sure what it is called) black and look much cleaner then the dirty, grimmy look.
