3rd Generation First time oil change = oil pump damage?

I change the engine oil by myself one week ago. But after that the oil pump broken. I go to MIDAS, they ask for 1000 for repairing the Timing belt and the oil pump. And now everything seems ok again.

But I still afraid, I refill the engine oil, the the oil level is a little higher than the full level, I am just wondering is that the reason cause the oil pump broken? BTW, the car shop said the timing belt broken first and then it cause the oil pump broken.

And it is the first time I change the engine oil, if the oil level will cause serious problem, I will let the car shop do it next time.

Thanks for your help!

A slight bit above the full mark will not hurt anything. If it really bothers you, drain out a bit and then recheck the oil level.

I dont think it was anything you did that caused it. Dont feel bad. Save yourself the money and keep changing your own oil.
