steering question

hi guys, i have a 97 camry, lately I noticed if I turn hard fast, all of a sudden the steering gets stuck, like it cant go anymore..luckily it only happenned when i was making a u turn, so nothing dangerous happenend...what might this be? it was also raining..only happened once or twice..
also i found that i have an extra quart of synthetic oil someone gave me....can i mix it in my car that has regular motor oil? i've never used synthetic? thanx guys

that sounds like a problem with the steering rack and as far as the oil its not reccomended to mix dino and synthetic.

The gear that turns your rack is binding... might be from mis-alignment or chipped/broken gear teeth.
