Ok so after finishing swapping out the old block with a new reman block, check engine comes on and throws out a DTC P0773 (Shift Solenoid E). So I think back and remembered when I was unplugging the engine wires, I had broke a sensor plug that plugs into the transmission. There are three plugs right above that shift lever, under the starter. A big white plug, a medium black to the right of it, and small one behind the white one. The one behind the white one broke off. So can I go to Toyota and buy a new plug?? (more than likely I could) And how do you go about fixing this? I've already searched the camry forums and have not found anything.
The other problem I have is, when I shift into Drive or any of the other gears, the car moves like half an inch and revs after that. One thing that did happen was when I took out the torque converter, I had spilt bunch of oil out of it (I think all of it). So when I go and install it back in the transmission I had not filled it up. Do you guyus think that is the problem? If it is, you guys think I had done any damage??
when you broke your plug (I can't really tell from the picture), did you snap off the side that plugs into the plug on the tranny, or did you snap the plug part that's attached to the tranny?
and from your pictures, I can't personally off the top of my head say which plug it was again...but it looks like it may be the speed sensor plug? not too sure...
but regardless, the shift solenoid code would not be affected by the plug though...had you not plugged in the large tranny-to-ecu plug, you would be throwing all the solenoid codes along with the "E electrical" code. Run the diagnostics from the diagnostics manual and see if it's an electrical issue or failure of the actual shift solenoid, which should also not have been affected by your work since the solenoid is located in the tranny pan

Yes. I am reusing my old tranny.
The part that is attached to the tranny broke.
I also unplugged the other two plugs next to this one and ran the diagnostics. It threw me a P0733 i think and the P0773. I plugged them back along with the broken one as good as I can, and only the P0773 came up afterwards.
Oh yeah, and it also said Electrical after the code.

i used to have the P0773
i've looked at the service manual, it said either caused by ECU, wire harness to solenoid E from ECU, or the solenoid E itself. i've replaced ECU, solenoid E, and check wire harness, seems to be ok, but still have P0773.
mine was caused by my weak engine not delivering enough power, and the transmission can't decide to go to 4th gear or stay in 3rd gear.
after i tuned up the engine with changing the A/F sensor, which me threw a check engine light, ECT sensor, new plugs, fuel filter, and also replaced my suspected leaky flex pipe, problem went away.

Hi gurus,
I am getting P0773 on my Toyota Camry 2000 V6, AT, California spec, Japan-made. I want to change the shift solenoid valve SL. I called couple of dealers and none of them were able to pull the right part from the catalog. I'll appreciate if someone can share the part# if s/he has the catalog.
