Lets see if you have figure this out?

Gen 3 Camry 3sfe motor.

Everytime you step on the brakes the "R" light will light up on the PRND2L panel.

also at night time when you have the lights on the inside parking lights that's next to the reverse lights light up. but it will shut off when you step on the brakes and the "R" light will light up too.

the Reverse lights are dead when you shift to reverse.

checked all fuses and it looks fine.

anyone had a problem like this before?

Not sure which "inside parking light" you mean. Overall, it kind of sounds like you threw something in the trunk and it mashed two or three wires and maybe even severed the reverse light wire. I'd trace the reverse light wire back from the lights into the trunk and see if you could find any damaged wires.

My friend's Camry did exactly the same thing. We tried to fix it, but never found the problem and we just sold the car afterwards.

It doesn't really hurt because the Camry has so many brake lights in the back. Just don't back up when there are cops around. The R light coming was quite amusing at times, especially since the D light is almost always burnt out. We cruised on the highway at 120km/h, stepped on the brakes and took a picture, fooled quite a few people.

sounds like it might have something to do with the neutral safety switch ... dirty contacts or something ... not sure though.

I have that problem too. I temporary fixed it just by messing around with the reverse light switch on the transmission

There is a separate wire for each of the gear positions ... going from the neutral safety switch ... near the transmission ... to the combination meter ... the dash gauges behind the steering wheel. At some point, the wire for the reverse gear position is coming into contact ... rubbing against ... the wire that lights up the brake lights when you push the brake pedal. ...
So to fix this you get the wiring diagram, identify the brake wire and also maybe the reverse wire, and slide a length of wire guard ... the plastic kind with a slit along one side ... onto the wires that are shorting together.
This has got to be it ... A successful repair kind of depends on how difficult it is to get to the problematic wires though ... might be kind of tight under the dash .. near the steering column.

Check back tomorrow, maybe I can find the wire colors to look for.

The wiring diagram shows a red wire with a black stripe going from the neutral start switch ... also called the a/t indicator switch ... to the a/t indicator light ... which I think is the set of lights along side the gear shift. This red/black wire also has a junction with a wire going to the backup/reverse lights ... same colors.
There is also a green wire with a white stripe which goes from the brake pedal switch to the brake lights.
There must be some kind of short circuit ... bare wires that are touching ... between these two wires.
... Not completely sure how to locate the particular spot where the trouble is.
... Probably just going to have to remove one or two panels and see if you can find one or both of these wires ... see where they are routed, and where they might cross ...
Can't say if there would be some kind of spark ... that might be visible if you had access to the wiring ...might have to try inspecting them in the dark to see if there was some sort of obvious flash or light ... might be worth a try if nothing else works.
