drum brake problems

I just got Duralast rear drums, shoes and a hardware kit installed a few days ago, and for some reason these days, when I brake I get a knocking noise coming from them. The harder I brake, the faster the drums tick. Is there a certain "break-in" process I need to do? I know it's not normal..

usually for the first 500 miles you take it easy or break in period. but i would open it up and check everything to make sure everything its nice and tight and where they should belong.

I have to agree with Black95Cam, remove the drums and recheck all the work done. If that doesn't solve the problem, remove the drums and have them checked for being out of round. It would not be the first time a brand new drum was out of round. It happened to me years ago on an 86 Camry.
