Please help me identify if this is infact the rear strut gone ??
I was driving home and some thumping coming hard and loud from the pass rear side
I knew the struts were going but is this what happens when they fail also what is reccommended for a change out ? And how if a al had is it to do your self
Just a blown strut would not make your car drop like that. Something has to be wrong with your spring. Well at least now is a perfect time to lower your car.

How much miles that car has? That has to be something pretty bad. Strut seems for sure dead. Spring and mount might want to be check and replace I'd say...
60K is a rough estimate on when struts should be replaced (this varys on driving conditions and style). Gosh, the only way my rear is that low is when I got a full loaded car. Better to replace all at one time
I'd bet money you have a spring/spring-seat problem. I'm sure the struts could stand to be replaced, but I can't see just a bad strut causing that much of a drop.
When I replaced my struts (serviceable cartridge type) they were totally shot too, so much so, that little fluid was in the strut cartridge itself, but mostly just sitting inside the outer strut body. And my sag wasn't anywhere near that bad.
