idiotic transmission fluid question

hey guys,

i recently acquired a 94 camry station wagon, and have found that the transmission fluid level is quite low ... do i add fluid to the tube where the dipstick goes or what? i don't see any other place.

The dipstick tube is correct, but also check for leaks after topping off the fluid. Fluid is not consumed by the system, so it has to be leaking out somewhere. Also, be sure to use Dexron III fluid. It replaced the Dexron II that is mentioned in the 94 owner's manual.

Yes, add it through the dip stick tube, but be careful not to over fill it, auto tranny are sensitive to fluid level. Remember to have the engine running and warm with the tranny in park or neutral when you check the level. And yes use Dexron III.

There is also a differential fluid reservoir that is separate. Check that too.

The difference between the low and high marks for the hot indicators is about 1 pt so be careful about how much you add.
