did i BLOW my transmission??

Help please! I need my car for school. i was out joyriding the other day, my engine was pretty low on coolant (about half way filled), but the temp gauge is fine. I dont have the money to buy the $12 thing of coolant. I figured since its winter it will be fine.

But anyway, I wanted to get a good launch out of this red light, so I revved my engine up in neutral, then while the engine was sitting at 4000 RPM i moved the selector directly from neutral to drive. It smoked the tires but then it started slipping when I went to take off at the next light. Is there anything i can put in the tranny fluid to help it not slip? Someone said stop slip might work. But it is still 8 bucks.

wow, no offense but not the best thing you could have done to your tranny. You can try a flush and all that and see if that helps, but what you did can do major damage

I don't see how you can afford gas and go joyriding but not but not buy a jug of coolant.

You can check the fluid level for the transmission or try to do a drain and refill like Rdizzle said. But reving up and going from N to D is a huge no no for an automatic. You could be looking having to replace the transmission now because of that. Enough transmission fluid to do a drain and refill is probably $12 or so if you do the labor yourself and you already have the tools.

NEVER neutral drop your tranny! It's alright to have fun in your car, but just because it's a Toyota doesn't mean that you can't break it. You'll find out soon enough that being kind to your car and properly maintaining it will save you a ton of money in the long run.

If your tranny actually is damaged, the only way to properly fix it would be to have it rebuilt or replaced. Those fluids that you can add might help a little, but it doesn't actually fix the problem. If you're really worried, see if you can find a mechanic to take a look at it.

not the smartest of things to do, your driving a automatic, not a stick shift from the sounds of it sounds like you have burned up the clutches in the transmission

Nice HOAX post. Pretty funny! ...not...

Why the F@#k would you think launching your car @ 4k rpms would give you a good launch? All it does is break the tires loose.....or worst case break your transmission.

yeah. not the smartest thing to do.
Why dont you park your car and carpool with someone if they dont mind and save all the gas you would be burning for a jug of coolent and some fluid for your tranny.
Hey, I NEED my car for work/school and anywheres else i need to go. I had to park it for two weeks so i could afford spark plugs/oil/coolent/tranny fluid... Its possible to do.
Just be easy on your camry. Its not a sports car nor do i doubt yours is modded in the engine area. So take it easy....

Anyone know where to get a radiator for a 95 Camry? message me please.

Neutral dropping is like playing Russian rullet with your tranny.I thought it was cool too when I started driving. Then I realized that a car isn't a toy, but more of a weapon and a money pit. Having fun is having fun, there are a lot of better things todo than a N-Drop. Ever heard of brake torquing? Much easier but still not a good idea.

I hope you have to replace it. That will be the last time you have to learn this lesson.

If it was fine while driving before the N-Drop, your prob weren't low - you fucked it up.

Also, Fluid won't help you. Check the level, if it's low - add Dexron III. If it's not. Good luck. AND Add some coolant. Buy the 50/50 (I say that because I assume you don't know how to mix it since you think the N-Drop is okay). Just because it's cold out doesn't mean you can't overheat. Think about what happens in the engine; friction, explosions, lots and lots if parts. Your temp. gauge is also not accurate with low coolant.

You say you need money, but FUCK. You really need to get with it and learn that maintenance and driving for gas mileage is exponentially cheaper than replacing engines and trannies.

For the record: Brake torqing is better than the N-Drop because you won't fry your tires, all you wanna do it just chirt them - not spin them. It's still not awesome for your tranny, but at least your not ripping shit apart inside of it and your tires.

I can't tell if this is real or not, as I find it very hard to believe he can be paying for gas as well as insurance and bills for his car, but can't buy an $8 bottle of trans additive.

Might just be slipping cause your low on fluid...change your fluid/top it up first and see what happens.

I don't think he's low. From the way he's talking it wasn't acting this way before he was n-bombing.
