air blows but no heat comes out???

I have a 2001 toyota camry and the heat will not come on when i turn the knob to red. The air blows but it just produces freezing cold air. What should I do? Any advice would surely be appreciated. I am new to heating so specfic advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
chris

Is the car warm? You don't get any heat when you first start the car, the heat comes from engine heat.

If the car is warm (the needle is in the middle of the temp gauge) then make sure you have enough coolant in the radiator. If you do, and it still blows hot air, check the thermostat.

Sometimes the heater knob you turn with your hand will crack on the back side and you just think it's turning when actually the knob is stripped. pull the heat knob straight off and see if it is cracked. if so, pull the fan speed knob off and switch it to the heater knob post to see if it turns on the heat.
