3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
The irony is killing me. I was pestering that the streets were still full of snow when I left my home for work today. 5 Minutes later I was sliding into a snowplow that decided to park on the side of the road at the last minute. I was following a BIT close but there was ice everywhere underneath the snow so it was hardly avoidable.
My front bumper is effed, everything else seems fine. I didn't have time to check everything behind the bumper yet. Pictures tonight.

Ouch, sorry to hear that happened..... I agree it gets pretty messy here too. We just a massive pileup on the 401 and 400 highways a few days ago from whiteout conditions.

I HAVE winter tires all around in very good condition, but even the best tires don't do much when you're rolling on an ice rink. Unless you have studded tires. This law should've been voted a long time ago IMO
I was close but not stupidly close, I was around 30 feet behind when he stopped abruptly. I just very smootly glided right into him there was nothing I could do. I poked in the other lane but there was a car coming so I aimed for the giant back tire...When ABS kicks in as soon as you touch the pedal you know you're in trouble. I usually never even take advantage of ABS, I use it as a warning signal. Don't remember how fast I was going but it wasn't over 45 km/h for sure.
The damage is not as bad as I thought but Yota is still asking 300$ for the bumper cover and 120$ for the foam behind it. Let's just say I had other projects for this car other than having to replace the bumper...

My camera sucks. The picture is in color actually, but here's a broader one. I don't think anything is damaged back there, the car drives fine.

hey, sorry to hear that happened. but if i were in your situation, id take this chance to get body kit style bumper.
just a heads up: your new bumper will not have the same tone as the rest of your car, unless your car is black, or some other dark color. then it wouldn't be as noticeable. IMO, r34 bumper is calling.
skip the foam and just pick up a bumper- only down side is that next time this happens, you'll totally destroy the bumper and get a ding in your rebar....our rebars are damn tough anyway

I have a TRD body kit waiting for paint, and my car is black and is getting a good polishing as soon as snow clears. I'm not worried about the paint at all, especially considering the same guys did my roof when I bought the car and there is no difference at all and the black is deep and good.
