3rd Generation gen 3.5 tail light baking????

i want to experiment with a old set of tail lights that i have and to do so i need to open them up. ive heard about baking them and have seen many threads on doing so. but it seems that everyone has their own opinion. i would like to know how to really do it. maybe from someone who has done it before? whats the process for baking them? is there any other way?

never done it with the tails but with the headlights. i just popped the lights on a baking pan and heated the oven to 200 degrees. some say to preheat but i just put them in and turned on the oven, then after like 5 mins checked and they were malible enough to separate.

LoL. yeah, if you wanna bake 'em, its possible. my friends did it with their H22's (Preludes). Here's what they did...

- Have the lights sit on something flat like one of those baking pans
- Turn up the oven to 400 degrees
- Put it in for approximately 20 to 30 seconds
(just enough to soften the rubbe moldings, glue, etc.
- Take it out and open them up right away.
- Then do as you wish

i would advise against the 400 degrees. 200 is more then enough to soften the adhesive and u wont run the risk of melting, or warping the lense or the housing. just reheat the same way and put it back together when ur finished.

Just try to reheat. Or some type of clear silicone

I've always used an industrial Heat Gun, heating around the outside, every once in a while pulling on them until it pulls apart. Haven't messed any lights up yet.

To make the camry lens clear, i think you have to sand the lens, then polish the shit out of it

250F is where id heat it up at. Use silicone to seal back up, when doing this heat up the pieces first so that the glue and silicone will mix together when putting it back together so there are lesser chances of water getting in
