Hey I just won this intake for my 99 camry v6 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2434889480 I was wondering if people could help me out since I am new to this. Could anybody give me some general tips on installing this and what i going to need to do, also what is the large rectangular hole in the center of the pipe for? Thanks a bunch...
Nate
That kit is trash, it doesnt even have the right amount of tubes (there are 3 on the stock airbox). Spend the money and get an Injen one if you really want an intake.
so are you telling me that this intake will not fit onto my car at all, i need to have 3 tubes to make it work? I know i sound like an idiot, but what are the three tubes for and what should I look for in making the intake work?
Making that intake work is a waste of time...like I said before, check www.injen.com for a better one. Besides, the Injen is also carb legal, which is important if you get smogged / pulled over. Some people will disagree but probably because they are more boro than me. If you dont have all three hoses, it will likely throw a code. I suppose you could just like drill a hole or something and try to boro it but its up to you.
see yeah i got the intake, and it is in the one in the pic, the guy said that it should be everything i need and that the rectangular hole is for the MAF sensor and that it should fit my car, my car is @ home now and i am away @ college, but apparently this is supposed to fit my car. Is it for sure that I need 3 hoses, or are the 2 enough? If not what possible options do i have to work with this intake...
nate
but it appears there are only two holes for hoses in the intake itself, so would i need to have another hole and adapter added? If so anybody have any suggestions on how to do this since I do not have welding materials

hey nate... we'll like everyone said.. u need three hoses.. but u basically can use the old hoses cuz the hose really won't make a difference.. because i have an Injen and like the hoses are the same.. except for the little injen logo on the hoses.. and well don't worry at least u didn't get jipped that bad.. u might jes need to drill a small hole.. at least they gave u that rectangular box cut for u.. otherwise u got ripped off.. but yeah.. if u wanna see how the injen looks.. on the car.. i got this pic off this car site.. which prolly got it off injen...
ok i see, so if i drill a hole, how do you think i could attach that last hose so that it would be safe? Do i need to have another metal tube attached to my intake, or should i just stick the hose in the metal tube where i drill the hole, and maybe put some expoxy or some sort of glue around it to make sure it won't come out... does that make any sense to anybody?
i figure i can do a little manipulation to this pipe since it was only like $25 bucks
