How much will it cost to fix the leak I posted about...

I posted a few days ago about a leak in my 98 camry, it is on the right side of the engine( coming from the middle, not the top or bottom of the side), and it only leaks when the engine is running. My neighbor chickened out of fixing it, so now Hubby and I are going to take it to a shop.. How much should I be willing to pay? I know it is probably a gasket or seal that is no good, but am hopeing not to be taken advantage of at a mechanic. Thanks C in NC.

Oil leak in 98 camry at Right side of engine...

hard to tell without pics... how long is a piece of string?

couldn't really tell you unless you know exactly what the problem is. oil leaking down the right side of the engine is just not descriptive enough i'm afraid.

we don't even know if it's an I4 or V6.

if as long as when you say the "right hand side" of the engine, you mean the timing belt side, then it could be any of the seals mentioned by the ppl in the other thread

basically, be prepared to pay the same price as a timing belt change- they'll have to remove and replace the timing belt due to the oil that will be on it, as well as (if I remember correctly) an extra half hour of labor for every seal that has to be replaced plus the cost of the seal
