Let me explain the whole situation then i will start . 2 Main reasons for the part out, #1 is i found a TT Gs300 that i have fallen in love with so i have decided to get rid of the solara to start my new project. 2nd reason, last year i finally got around to hitting up the 1/4 mile after installing the meth injection. I street tuned the car with the safc and my wide band to get right around 11.7 a/f which was my target. The meth allowed me to run 93 octane and safely use the 2" 10lb pulley. The idea with the meth being no more expensive race gas. I had to turn the SAFC way down the compensate for the additional meth in my a/f mixture. So i got the car running really nice and was really looking forward to hitting 12's finally which i knew the car was more than capable of. To make a long story short about halfway down the track the boost line coming off the charger that activates the meth kit blew off which in turn shut off my meth kit! I should have had a failsafe switch hooked up with the meth kit to prevent this kind of problem but unfortunately i didnt. I car detonated pretty bad i immediaely let off and coasted through the traps running a 13.6 at 106, coasting almost the whole second half of the track! After parking the car and popping the hood i discovered a tapping noise coming from the rear cylinder head, obviously some sort of damage has been done to my beautiful fully built forged low compression race motor. I had it checked out by a mechanic friend who is familiar with the car (he did my ARP head studs and MLS head gaskets on the car a year and a half ago). He's confident that its a broken valve spring and no major damage was done. The noise is not coming from the block. No the engine has not been compression tested. So if somebody wants to buy this race motor off me you have 2 options. You can buy the motor from me for about half of what i will charge if the motor gets freshened up. 2nd option which is
probably the way i am going to go is to send the motor to a friend in St. Louis that is a master tech on toyota. He builds 2JZ's a lot and is very experienced in toyotas and engine building. He will take the motor apart and fix whatever the issue is, while he is in there he will also repalce the rod and main bearings, piston rings, all gaskets and seals, freshen up the heads, make sure the valve lash is correct , etc. I will then be selling the engine for 6k firm. So moving forward with the sales.
The car is a 99 sle solara 59k on the odometer red with tan leather interior and woodgrain. Car originated in georgia and i am the second owner.Car has never been wrecked as far as i know for those interested in the shell.
The engine i am speaking of is a fully built 1mz block, bored out with over sized pistons to a 3.1L. The pistons are custom Arias piece spec'd to a 9:1 compression. The rods are Eagle forged pieces originally made for the toyota 22r but machined for my 1mz. The block also has ARP main studs. The heads are mostly stock aside from the valve job and heavy porting/polishing. ARP head studs are used along with toyota MLS headgaskets sourced from a vvti 1mz. The lower intake manifold will be included with the engine , it has been heavily ported to match the heads. All timing equipment will come with the engine, as well as the water pump and Toga HV oil pump. Valve covers come with the engine (painted red toyota color 3n5). Like i said guys i am not 100% sure what the issue is so i am trying to be as clear as possible when explaining the damage. TRD body kit Recently painted toyota red 3n5. Comes with all 7 pieces (3 pieces for the back not 2) , the fronts are a little scuffed both sideskirts in the center have minor warpage from where we hung the skirts in the paint booth. Its barely noticeable but if you wanted to make it 100% the skirts need to be heated up with a heat gun and straightened in the center. $800
