Transmission Quote!!

Hey guys, IM pretty new to this thing, so her goes. I have a 1993 camry 4cyl Le with about 220,000kms my tranny stopped going into reverse so I took it to a mr.transmission they sai dthere was internal damage so they quoted me with $1800 to remove and rebuild the transmission, is this worth it, any advice?

If it were me..id get a low mileage one from a junkyard and do it myself. MUCH cheaper. If you DO get one from a junkyard...change the fluid in it several times in the first month or 2 to make sure you get all new fluid in there.

yea i go tthat idea form a ocuple of threads, because i figured for 2 grand i can buy another camry with no tranny problems! how much do you think it would cost to get the tranny from a junk yard and install?

Check out rebuilt transmissions too, the junk yard units range from $400 to $1000, usually depending on the milage (KMs) when removed from the car. some really low km units were from wrecks, which should be in very good condition.

i just called a junkyard and they offered a tranny from a camry with 122,000kms with installation for 900$ that sounds pretty good to me!

That's an awesome deal! Less than 76,000 miles on it and installation for $900!!

Id jump on that!

But remember...change the fluid several times in the first couple months.
