Pull out the ash tray. Put your hand in the opening palm up and grip the top and pull. The bezel should come right out and then remove the two wiring harness. Then remove the four 10mm bolts holding the stereo in.

My bro tried to install the Avic D3 into my 2001 camry but we have some trouble do so. As I seen it in my camry, there are 2 black plugs that plug into the left side of the stock unit and thats for the radio and there is only 1 plug with all the color wires that plug into the unit. He got the Avic D3 to turn on, so there is power but does anyone know which color wire is for the sound? and which wire is for the dvd player? or does it matter? please need help people.

The 2 black wires, one (bigger one) is for the radio, the smaller one idk what this is, i am still trying to figure it out.

Now for the wiring harness their is one piece that connects into the radio but if you look to the right in the gap where the radio is, you'll see another adapter (2 parts), unplug that and use it instead of the one part wiring harness.

ok so what you are saying is....DONT USE THE HARNESS THAT CONNECTS TO THE STOCK RADIO, there is another harness that i didnt see to the right? hmmm thats weird. you have a 4th Gen camry aswell and encountered this problem before then? I think I should take a picture of what I have so far..maybe it would be clearer.

if their is only one white plastic connector going to your stereo, then their is a second wiring harness. Its to the right and its a 2 piece connector.
