Thumbs up Front mount vs. top mount vs. side mount Intercooler

So yeah me, Drew (Rdizzle), and Lenny (Venom_5) have our own ideas of the pro and cons of all three.

But i was wondering you guy's opinions on which would be the most efficient and useful. Me, I would like to have a side mount cause it would be more of a sleeper which is the look im going for.

So what are your idea's and opinion's guys??

Front mount. If you want stealth, paint it black. To be honest I've never looked up the numbers but for a Camry I don't think you could match the efficiency using a top or side mount instead.

Top Mount is retarded - its the first thing you want to remove on a WRX/STi and such the like

Front Mount is best, but Side Mount is okay too

The front mount is not great it is on top of the engine which is hot, and then you need a hood scoop. The Side mount is only if you have no place to put it. The front mount is the best, it is always exposed to cooler air coming into the engine. Front>Side>Rear

If you want it unnoticeable, spray paint it jet black.

top mounts sucks, never an option, no room for the front mount = other

AS to what that is is still being discussed. But it will be unique and get the job done

SMIC's can work fairly well if you can get good airflow to them. HOWEVER.. FMIC will always be the most efficient, although most exposed to elements such as bugs, leaves, rocks, etc. Might be good to put a mesh screen in front of one and paint it with radiator paint? Make sure whatever black paint you use has high thermal conductivity.

I haven't actually looked at the Camry for SMIC or FMIC room.... Hmmm.... New project to go stare at! lol

Top mount offers a few advantages.....first of all, you car will still run in a minor front end accident, and second of all it's far less likely to be damaged by road debris. But it is hardly stealth, as it would require cutting a whole in the hood.

If you're going to get a side mount, unless it's free or you just have a small one laying around, you might as well get a full front mount. PAINT it BLACK for sure if you want the sleeper look.

Why be sleeper when you could just be better.
