92 Lowering

Ok...question. A friend of mine has a honda civic. Yeah-ya..i know..anyways. He used spring clamps to lower his car. It gave his car fairly stiff ride but wasn't too bad, but he was able to lower it a good 2 inches all the way around.
Is this a good idea of just a cheap alternative?
and is it fairly safe?
will this damage your springs in any way?

BTW..i was asking about doin this on a 92 Camry 4 banger.

Thanks alot TN.

cheap alternative....I suppose its fine looking at it from a cosmetic point of view, but those clamps won't last forever, and who knows what may happen if one broke while the car was moving at a fast rate...

but more so, in the end, they're still stock springs....soft, bouncy, and with springs rates made for comfot usually.....on hard turning, or other types of maneuvers, the car may easily bottom out since the springs aren't any stiffer and who knows what else

clamps are good for a few, NEVER permanent...

you can cut the coils, but i think that's just as dangerous, rice, and harsh ride...

i think there are enough companies out there selling lowing springs, so you can get the real deal, and it's safer..
