3rd Generation My radiator blewd up... ;/

Hi.. My uper plastic coveral of the radiator also blewed up.... I was driving about a one hour, and than suddenly the temperature growed up. I stoped my car, opened the hood, and noticed that there is no water in the reservior tank... I filled it up, and continued my ride. After 100 kilometers the temperature growed again, and there was again no water in the reservior tank :/ (the radiator was fine , there was no leak - I just dont know where that water was gone?!) I filled it it up again and after 15 minutes I saw a cloud taking under my hood. - the radiator blewed up :/ - why?

the next week I buyed a new radiator and instaled it (I also instaled a new thermostat). I feeled all whit new coolant and started my engine. When the engine was running to normal temperature a realised the uper hose that goes to the radiator is very hard (there is a high pressure in it) - is that normal? I think NOT.

When I take of the radiator cap (when the angine runs and the coolant is not hot a see bubbles.) were are they comig from? what is wrong?

pleas help!! (sory for my bad english)

The upper and lower tanks on the radiator are made of plastic. Over time it is VERY common for the plastic to first crack then leak, sometimes this is a large leak.

To raise the coolant boiling point beyond 212F degrees the cooling system is pressured to about 13 PSI. The radiator cap has a spring valve to prevent the pressure from going over this amount. The pressure inside the system when the coolant is hot might be causing the hose to feel hard.

Make sure the hose is not worn out. It should stay the same diameter when the coolant is hot or cold, and not grow larger when the engine is hot and coolant system under pressure.

Bubbles in the coolant are not normal. Since the engine may overheated with loose of coolant it is possible a head gasket blow. Find a shop that can test the coolant for exhaust gases and pressure test the system. Also look for a loss of coolant over time, steam coming out of the exhaust pipe.

Make sure when you installed the new thermostat any hole or jiggle pin on its outer flange was rotated to the top.

there was a crack (10 cm long) in the cover. I think its a blewd head gasked, (there are many bubbles when the engine runs)..... Im not sure, but when the engines run I suppouse to hear under the enigne somethig like the exaust was not tight. mayby it is so because the head gasked is blewed ?

Check the exhaust for water vapor and flow for a popping noise. The exhaust flow should be constant, place a sheet of paper over the pipe and see if it gets sucked into.

Sounds similar to the problem I had in this thread except I had no bubbles in the water.
For peace of mind I purchased this product. It checks for exhaust gases in the cooling system.
My test came up negative. Hopefully it's accurate.
