Timing belt/oil pump

Hi, I'm new to the forum but you folks seem to have a wealth of knowledge. I recently bought a 94 Camry with a 2.2L, automatic with 143K on the clock. The timing belt was replaced at 60K miles and the seller told me it had a slight oil leak. Looking closer I've determined that the oil pump seal is leaking Not "slightly" either). Since I need to replace the oil pump seal, this seems like a good time to replace the belt, water pump and other associated seals. I have done a timing belt on a 1.8L but never messed with the oil pump. To remove the pump does the oil pan and sump arm need to be removed????
Also, on the 1.8 (87Camry) I've always had a problem of burning oil, probably from valve seals and I've always thought I should have pulled the head at that time and had it redone. I'm debating if I should do it to this one but I really don't want to spend the additional cash plus I don't know if this has a problem...
Any thoughts on this will be appreciated.

Thanks

The oil pump is fairly easy to remove. there is about 6 bolts holding it on. once you remove these bolts with a 10mm socket you will see a rubber band type seal behind the pump. this needs to be pulled out and replaced. take the pump assy. over to the vise and with a rag between the jaws, gently clamp the back side of the pump spindle. then take a 12mm socket and break loose the bolt holding the oil pump gear. remove the gear and slide the whole spindle out of the pump. then you can easily remove the round seal. there is also a thick round collar that should stay on the motor when you remove the pump. pack a little vasaline jelly around that collar before you reinstall the pump to the motor. also a little grease in the rubberband seal will help hold it in the groove. You don't have to remove the oil pan and you don't need valve seals. also clean all the oil of everything with a can of brake parts cleaner. Advance auto has some good spray.

Pick up a new rubber band seal at the dealer and replace it. Make sure it is totally installed in its grove and not hanging out when you install the pump.

When you pull off the pump look for a dimple on each pump gear. Make sure the dimples are aligned with each other and facing the same direction when installing them.
