New guy needs advice on replacing valve stem seals on 97 V6 Camry

I am new to this forum. My 97 Camry V6 is blowing all kind of oil smoke on startup. It has over 172,000 miles and this is the 1st major issue I have had with it. My question is can I replace the valve stem seals with heads on the motor after I pull the cams etc.. I do have a tool made for this type of application but when I pulled the valve cover it seems that the valve springs are way down into the head. Anyone have any recommendations?
