ATTN gen4 owners who did the HID retrofit kit.

do any of you have the follow me home function on your alarms??

I have a keyless entry system with the the follow me home function.

so this means that when i lock/unlock the car, the headlights stay on for up to 25 seconds.

so once i put my RETROFIT kit in....the driver's side one will turn on and stay on when i lock/unlock.

but the pass side turns on and turns off

i assume this is because the battery can't supply enough power to both.

so my question is....

is there a way to disable this follow me home feature???? or a way to wire it into my high beams....

thanks in advance!

Disable the whole thing, you might be damaging your ballast or bulb!

i'd imagine this is a problem with most hid kits..not being able to get ample power from the battery?

I remember that my old cressida had a knob next to the steering wheel that would control the length of time the "follow me home" feature would stay on. If you turned it all the way to the left, then the headlights would not stay on once the alarm was set. Do you have this knob? Just a thought.

i do have a knob to the left of the steering wheel but i believe it is for the brightness of the interior lights...BUT regardless i will check it out when i get home.....

The thing is if your battery sends any power less that 10 volts to your ballast, your ballast will completely fail. In your case a relay would not even help. The only thing you can do is remove the whole system altogether, or shorten the lifespan of your HID kit.
