3rd Generation Power window relay

Hey...I am new to this forum and need some help. I have a 1995 Camry American Edition (which I've figured out is an LE with power windows). Herein lies my problem.

About 2 weeks ago my master switch (windows, door locks, window locks etc) on the driver's door stopped working. My husband and I have tried 3 other switches from wrecking yards with no luck. I've had this sneaking suspicion that this is not a switch problem but a problem with a fuse or a relay.

So my husband checked all the fuses...no problem. He took off the kick panels in the front to look at the relays, couldn't figure out which one it was, and left it alone.

So today at work, I go to start my car and the battery is dead, and there is an electrical clicking/buzzing noise coming from the relay panels by my feet. I'm thinking this is what has drained my battery and I didn't notice the noise when I got out of my car this morning, what with the radio on and such.

SOO! My question is, could the relay go bad and make that noise and make my windows not work? And if so...which f-ing relay is the one for the power windows?? If someone has a diagram, that would be great. I'm about at the end of my rope.

If you can get the noise to reoccur you can probably feel which one is buzzing and clicking. I expect that that problem was caused by improperly reinserting the offending fuse/relay. It could be from a short.

The most common cause of failure of the power windows or locks is a broken or frayed wire in the loom of wires going from the body of the car to the driver side door. Do some searches ("master switch") on this forum to learn more.

The Door Lock Control Relay would be a good part to try switching out ...with one from a wrecking yard... If this part were defective, neither the power windows nor the door locks would work...Located in right kick panel, passenger side, under dash.

Sounds like the short circuit might be a separate problem ... in addition to the window/door lock problem.
The buzzing/clicking noise by your feet could be the cause of the short circuit battery drain ...see if you can locate it by listening to it...One possibility is the Power Main Relay ... located in the leftmost box under the dash...to the left of the steering column.

You might want to disconnect the negative battery cable from your battery...just leave it loose, not touching anything, until you get the short circuit located.
