3rd Generation hm top end or mid range on the 5s?

im think what is the weak point of the 5s and we know that the motor sux at the top end due to the heads and the camry is heavy. should i lose some mid range torque and gain top end or stick with the mid range? the 5s has some torque to it, but the top end sux. this is my opinion i hope i dont piss anyone off. it is obvious that the 5s would be better in a lighter car cuz of the torque.

hey i agree and i have a 5fse lol but thats why im doing a half swap 5fse + 3sgte = 5sgte lol! im swapin in 3sgte heads and manifolds should make for a pretty strong 4 cyl engine to get turboed which are exactly my plans later on down the road

Low end is bad, and high end is bad. From 3500-4500 rpms though, it pulls pretty good!

Do you mean a lighter car like a Celica or an MR2? Because Toyota used the 5sFE in both of those cars (as base engines) at one point.

i may be wrong here but i believe megamac83 tried this and he told me it didnt work cuz the head and block didnt matchup correctly. but he tried this on a gen4 5sfe if there was any differance between the two as far as layout is concerned.

the 5SGTE only works with early (like 92-93) 5SFE blocks. Otherwise the oil and water passages are very very different between the 3sgte head and the 5sfe block.
