e153 Tranny swap question again...

After doing further research, again, I went back and looked at our archived automatic to manual swapped for Camry's and the DIY's were done by people who own V6 Camry's. Then I sat and thought about who has a 5sfe and has done the 5spd swap and I honestly cannot remember a single person off the top of my head.
So I decided to look on the 6gc site (with there lack of information on this swap for their 5sfe's) and of the topics I did find pertaining to this, all the topics said the Solara e153 did NOT bolt up to the 5sfe. So I'm confused.
I read on one of the posts that in order for it to work, a custom clutch kit needs to be made.... not doing that...
Also, they are saying to use the Mr2 e153, but wtf, that's the same as the solara one!!
Not that I'm not trusting the community, but all I've been reading is was it presumed to work, not actually was has been proven to work. I've received misinformation before and I would rather not spend money and find out again
Come on, who has done it?

I would presume that the trannys should basically be interchangeable...

with one good example being because there was the guy in quebec who did a 3sgte swap into his coupe using the stock s54 that came with his 5sfe....then he blew the tranny due to the power.

and we all know that the 3sgte uses the e153- and can bolt on even to the solara e153, where the only difference between the 3sgte one and the 1mzfe one is that the gearing is supposed to be shorter for the 3sgte e153

as fr axles, the e153 has its own axles and you can't use automatic axles

^so in saying that, technically, the e153 from the solara should work... hmmm
What year does the s54 come from? I sure do hope its cheaper to swap that way.

S54 is the 5SFE Manual Tranny. I have one sitting in my garage :p. UFOz had done the E153 swap IIRC.

That's what I wanted to do because the s54 really isnt suited for a turbo, whereas the e153 is since it's used with the 3sgte and Solara V6 model.
There seems to be an issue between using a pressure plate, clutch disc and flywheel and I'm trying to sort out before I start dumping more money again. Anyone have a source of information on what could be used?

Well I was saying the bellhousing on the E153 was changed in 1993 on the MR2T for future use with a V6. The 1997-2001 Camry/Solara E153 is of the same design as the 93+ MR2 turbo except the shifter linkage is at the back of the transmission where you need it to be. Because the design of the transmission is different, and the shifter linkage itself is different, it'd be best to use the 97-01 V6 shifter cables with the E153, instead of your S51 cables, to avoid any shifting difficulty.
