3rd & 4th Generation (19921996 & 19972001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
This used to happen ever so often, but the last month with the weather being -40ēC at it's worst, this happens almost all the time.
The Emegency Brake light on the dashboard goes on, and stays on when it's really cold outside. If I accelerate hard (warms up the engine bay slightly) the light goes off for a moment, then back on.
When it's warmer outside, the light goes on rarely, but as the weather dips, the light goes on quite often.
So basically my e-brake light is now a outside air temp gauge! haha. I've already checked the switch on the e-brake handle, and that switch is working fine.
Has anyone seen this? Have any insight onto which system is failing?
The Camry is a car that I can rip out someone's pride, stab it, beat it, and completely bash their egos, and it's so ridiculous that the person comes back with a hysterical laugh... ROFL They got trainlengthed by a Camry that in their mind, was a 18 sec car.
Had the same issue. Was a leaky brake line on the front passenger side. Replaced the line, filled it up, unstuck the floater in the resevoir, and viola!!...no more light.

+6 Lol. Just happened to me too - only on the coldest days and it would go off during acceleration and around turns. Front right caliper was leaking, replaced under warranty.
my brake light just stays on forever, i had just changed my brake pads, filled up my brake fluid, and changed my brake line, but brake light still on...wtf is wrong??
Look at wiring diagram, that light is triggered by 1 brake fluid level sender and 2, parking brake position sender (switch, sensor, etc.) so the float switch may be stuck, or your hand brake is not fully released.
