It isn't plug and play, but it isn't too hard either. You buy a harness that hooks into the factory wiring. One end is a connector end (the one that literally hooks on the car wiring side), and the other side is bare wires. Those bare wires connect to the harness that comes with the aftermarket radio. The radio harness (that came with the radio) will have one connector on one side, and bare wires like the other harness. You get to custom make a harness for your car for use with that radio.
Sometimes the wire colors match up perfectly, and it's easy as sin. Sometimes the colors don't match, but don't panic, just read the schematic and read what the function is and match them that way.
So you have 3 options to connect the wires:
1) twist together, then tape (or heat shrink)
2) butt connectors
3) solder, then tape (or heat shrink)
#3 is my personal favorite, but really any of the 3 will least for years.
So you build your harness while watching TV, or at the dining room table, then when it comes time to install, it's easy.
