Have come across posts on special spark plug removing tools and socket setups to get around having to remove everything to pull the rear plugs. Suggest doing a TN history search.
I dont know about the 1MZ, but with my 3VZ, I didn't have to remove anything to replace the spark plugs. I used a combination of a 6 inch extension, a 3 inch extension and a swivel adapter for the ratchet.
It was tricky, but I didnt have to remove anything except one bolt in the back, I think it was a brace for the EGR tube...cant remember without looking and I don't feel like getting shoes on right now..lol
