Camry Immobiliser

I have a 95 Camry with 5S-FE & have misplaced my immobiliser remote.
Does anyone know the programming instructions for it?

I have a similar problem, however, I bought the car with no remotes a few months ago. My Mother-in-law gave me a spare remote from her Holden Apollo (Australian badge swap of the camry ) to try and program to my car, but without a working remote, it doesn't seem possible/easy.

I am disappointed in toyota for this little bug in this series of cars because a dealer has told me the only way out is to buy a new system - bugger that!!! There has to be a cheaper alternative - and failing that.... it's an aftermarket alarm and a weekend of solder and side cutters. I would rather pay $100 for an alarm than $350+ for a genuine toyota one.

I'll keep you posted on anything I find.

Cheers

Shannon

Yeah I found out that if you leave the reds on for 30 mins it disables the immobiliser.
Toyota want $312 for a replacement unit if I can't find an original remote.
I was told Toyota can order a pre programmed remote if you get them the number off the immobiliser but I'm not sure if this is true.

Is the number a physical one printed on the label?? If that is the case, it only costs ( for me - anyway) about $30-35 for a remote. My father in law can get the remotes at trade price.

And what do you mean by "reds"??

I might see if I can call a dealer about the pre-programmed remote tommorow. That would be mighty handy - then I'd have 2 remotes anyway.

Australia element of truth

OK, I rang a toyota dealer yesterday.....

It is possible to order a pre-programmed remote for the 95-96 camrys. In order to do this, you need, the VIN and the "TV" number that is printed on the "Computer Integration Relay" situated behind the glove box.

They told me that it costs no more for the pre-programmed remote - only thing is that it needs to be shipped from Melbourne and takes about a week.

I'll be ordering mine today.

Good luck with yours.
