3rd Generation Vibration while accelerating in second gear

Hi,
I have a 5 speed 4cyl and noticed that the car vibrates when I shift into second gear and accelerate. After shifting into 3rd gear, the vibration slowly disappears. The car runs fine in all other gears and is very smooth at high speeds and during idle.

From searching, I have seen suggestions like the axle, balancing and alignment. I will check these things. Any other ideas or suggestions?

Thanks

Inspect your suspension bushings for cracks and shrinkage. Check your rod ends for slop. Also, before doing the balance and alignment have them check the tire for deteriorating on the inside. Sometimes they start to peel apart and will give you wierd vibrations at certain speeds.
