Are you serious? What's the TV for because nobody's gonna be able to watch it cuz it's so close to you! I can imagine you watching it and then when you take a turn, you have to turn your head as well....

Wow, I can't believe you cut out the airbag...that's pretty nuts! Does your horn still work, please tell me you still have a horn....

Man, just thought about this again...I'd rather have my face bash an airbag than some shards of glass! I hope this is a show car....but hey, if it makes you happy.

I think thats a great idea. I'll have to look into that. It would suck to lose the airbag and have glass there in case of an accident but it'd look sweet. Maybe u should put some kind of cover flap or somethin so its harder to see TV when you're not in your car so noone will break in

Okay, let me get this straight. You have a TV screen in your steering wheel where the airbag was.

Let's ASSUME that you are stupid enough to watch the TV when you are driving (which I really hope you aren't), your eyes will be looking down and away from the road, eliminating all possibility of peripheral vision. In so doing, you increase the risk to yourself, your passenger, pedestrians and all users of the road. In addition, the risk to yourself and your front passenger will be even greater because you won't have an airbag and the passenger side airbag will not deploy with a break in the circuit.

Of course, this is ASSUMING that you don't have any common sense and would watch TV and operate a 3000kg vehicle at the same time. I refuse to believe that any Camry owner would do such a thing. So I shouldn't worry, right?? :???:

Also, how are you wiring up the screen?? If you're install is clean like it should be, the wires should go all the way through the steering column instead of being exposed and flailing around. Given that, how long of a wire do you have to accomodate the turning of the steering wheel??

I'm speechless...

OEM manufacturers have already invented this technology you are thinking of in the case of night vision. However, they are of the opinion that it would be unacceptably dangerous to have the drivers eyes anywhere but up and on the road. That's why they invented something called a "heads up display".

EDIT:
As for a camera displaying the road ahead, how is a 5 inch screen superior a 5 foot windshield?? Also, does the camera turn from side to side like your head and focus on near and far objects on command like your eyes??

Sorry to rain on you, but this doesn't sound like a workable concept. Save your money and work about the camera. Just leave the screen for navigation and entertainment purposes (when the car is not moving).

Again, just giving constructive criticism, not trying to flame ya.

nice mod in my opinion but also a very dangerous one... like SBC said u might get to look down once in a while and it becomes a habit and it is dangerous to you and other ppl around you... too bad if it was a show only car that would be tight!!!

humpty

spectr your hilarious.......that was funny .....i know i don't plan on really watching it it more for looks and i don't have passenger airbag..the way i see there are so may cars with out air bags..i know its not the safest thing but it cool.....(like i said i already know i'm crazy i just get impulse and do things.....but as far as the wiring....due to the fact that there was a airbag and cruize control, controls. i simply used the component that toyota designed for that same problem.luckly the harness had to empty spots and so i sent a power wire threw the harness..and then sent the video wire through the airbag wire.....and it works tight....and i think i am going to get or make some sort of steering wheel cover so sombody won't just bas it in....lol

Glad you're not offended because people have been a little sensitive around here lately.

Amazing that you can adapt the "worm" (yes, that is official Toyota speak) to the video feed. So there is no problem with turning whatsoever??

Another thing you should be aware of is that you're exposing yourself to a great deal of legal liability if your passenger is hurt because of the lack of airbag.
