4th Generation 99 XLE Enable Chirp/Beep on Lock for Factory Remote FCC# GQ43VT7T

First, New here, First Post Hello there TN.

Second, I have a new (to me) 99 XLE. It is teh <3

I have some problems with it though, but I already read about them (Factory radio doesn't <3 burnt cds, radio is staticy when using the rear defroster)

The thing I want to change though is that the car does not beep or chirp when you lock or unlock the door with the factory installed alarm/remote entry system. It flashes the lights, but no chirp.

Does anyone know how to enable this feature? I know the factory alarm system has the option since I've read it in a manual for the same model but in a different car/key fob.

Or would anyone have the complete alarm system manual?

I would also like to enable passive locking.

It uses the GQ43VT7T key fob.

TIA ya'll

P.S. Would anyone know where the valet button would normally be for a factory installed alarm for the 99 XLE?

P.S.S. Yes, I did read the compilation thread. No, I am not trying to add another key fob to the car (Yet )

Checked it out. No Camry 99, and it's just how to add more key fobs, not how to change settings. Thanks though.

ah this problem.. the problem that took me over half a year to fix cuz I too didn't knew the answer until a good fellow helped me on the TN forum and I got it 100% working again . Now it is my turn to help a fellow new TN member hehe... First thing the alarm isn't chirping any longer is because your speakers are broken. Yes, the speakers ARE that loud for the chirping noise. You'll need to buy a new speaker from this site.

i believe our camrys are the M80 series. After getting the new speakers(it does ship very fast). You can either replace it by yourself or with a techy. The speakers for your chirper is located by the driver side, ALL the way on the back close to the firewall. It should look like a little cylinder device hanging out wrapped with some foam materials. After that it will be ALIVE again!

So the two tone sound I hear when the alarm is triggered comes from a different set of horns then the chirper? Great.

I'll have to check it out tomorrow. Since its just a piezo, I should be able to give it 12v to test it right? Might as well if it is blown.

It's just that with my old after-market alarm for my old car, the chirper could be disabled and reenabled with the remote. With this factory alarm, I just figured the original owner just had it turned off.

Hey, couldn't find it. ANy chance you can take a picture of where it is on yours (If you have a 99 camry that is)?

Also, I think that instead of replacing the chirper, I'll just hook it up to the horn

it should be located right at the firewall on the driver side. It's a little cylinder thing hanging out of no where. If your going to do it with a horn then better bring it to a techy
