3rd Generation Speedometer Recalibration

Hi everyone,

I have been looking at some 18 inch by 8 inch AT Italia Nido. The tire unfortunately that is in my price range is the Yokomama Avid H4S, and the only size tire that they have to fit that wheels is a 225/40 R18. According to people that I have talked to this will make the tire and wheel’s combined diameter a half an inch shorter then the current tire and wheel diameter. When I went to talk to the local dealership where I get my car’s oil change and stuff, they said that the speedometer couldn’t be recalibrated, that some part on the transmission would need to be replaced. I just need to know if this is true or not, and if not where would be a good place to take it to be recalibrated.

There is only a 1.6% difference, it;s perfect with that tire.

Stock: 205/65/15 vs 225/40/18 would mean at 59mph, your speedo will read 60mph. My mom's 2005 Camry has more of a difference then that, stock from the factory. Nothing will need to be changed.
