3rd Generation Having a hard time starting...

It sounds like my car lately has been having a little trouble starting up. plugs and wires were replaced like 2.5-3 years ago, starter was replaced (with a used one) about a year ago.

I guess the way to describe it, is that its almost weak and doesnt have enough power to really turn over quick.

any ideas??
thanks!

If the engine seems to turn over faster when starting after driving for a time, might be battery is going bad. When engine is operating the battery is fully charged. If a dieing battery is allowed to set overnight it will loose some of its charge and have less cranking power. If the battery the situation will get worse over time.

my car had that problem b4. Try stepping on the gas peddle when turning hte key. There might not be enough oil going to the engine. But mine was a gen. 4.

If u have been using the cheapest oil, start using the better one or use the fuel injection.

Following toyomoho's point, if it is turning over slowly there is too little power. Bad battery, poor electrical connection(s), or failing alternator. Would you be able to take it to an auto parts store to have them check the electrical system for free? Even if the battery was "new" it may have been on the shelf too long.

^ What Kep said. Add one more simple possibility; a loose alternator belt. They can stretch out over time.

The others have some good ideas to fix the problem, heres a couple more suspects in case you draw a blank. the car might need new battery cables; or the ignition switch could be very worn and need replacing. Also examine the ground cable from the battery - make sure it is not correded away, that it is bolted firmly in place, and that the grounding point where it bolts to is shiny and not rusted too much.

I just noticed that. That's curious. Maybe he meant to have a question mark at the end of the sentence instead of a period. When I first read it I figured it was the original poster, you.
