Just an FYI to those that upgraded low beams to 9005
I had to take my car back to the dealer today because of more temperature needle fluctuations, but it turns out that my low beams, which I had modified to 9005 Silverstars using the thorough guide on this forum, ended up melting the harness on my right low beam. So, it looks like I'm back to square one as far as night-time illumination goes.
Since we are on that topic, does anybody have an idea that I could use to get that nice output (other than HID's... I'm in college!) like a certain brand bulb or something?

Good call!!! PIAA's are the shit, even use their wiper blades. I will never to back to another brand of wiper blades.... PIAA does everything with niceness.

Isn't there some bulb that's not an HID but is supposed to brighter than a traditional halogen? I'm not talking cheap eBay bulbs... I think it was something GE and/or Toshiba developed. Someone help me out here...?
Edit: Here we go... Toshiba HIR. 2500 lumens from 65 watts. I'm not sure how that compares to everything else, and I'm about to fall asleep so I won't be looking it up tonight, but maybe someone can take it from here...
as for the harness...did you melt the actual harness? or the plug? I melted both my plugs back in the day, so I spliced in some actual 9005 plugs and then they were fine. Something about the 9005 bulbs always jiggling after being modified for the 9006 harness plugs, and probably causes small arcs and extra heat

I had HIRs, they were a bit brighter than stock. I was actually able to see my beam under street lights with HIRs, couldn't do that with normal 9006. Oh and they were noticeably whiter too.
I had 1 HIR leftover from my car accident. I put it into my Highlander... I have mismatched headlights, one side is whiter lol
