Another Camry to S2000

Antenna conversion... Ha Ha. Couldn't resist after the recent thread about Camry owners getting S2000s. This is as close to an S2000 as I'll probably ever get

Before

After

Sorry the pics aren't real good before/after shots in similar location and angle. It was a nice day when I took the first one yesterday. It's raining cats and dogs today, so I had to take the second one in the garage.

For an easy mod, I'm very pleased with the way it looks

Looks very nice! Once my tax returns are back I am doing this. I'm sick of having a massive antenna that is always up.

Yep. Me too. It wasn't so bad with the factory stereo because the antenna didn't go up unless I was actually listening to the radio (which is seldom), but with my aftermarket stereo, it would go any time the HU was powered on. Very annoying. Then last month it started acting up and wouldn't go all the way down. I had gotten the S2000 antenna months ago off eBay, but waited until I was picking up the rest of my suspension parts to order the Celica antenna parts to go with it.

Perfect excuse to do the S2000 conversion. It's cheap. It's easy. It looks good. What more could you ask from a mod. And hey, if you're mom broke it, maybe you could get her to pony up for the S2000 mod

Ahh. That's a different animal. Don't think you have much choice but to do a direct OEM style replacement on that.

I'm really happy with the way it looks, particularly next to the window tint.

Thanks! I'm gonna fully detail it soon, then post some before and after pics when I do my suspension upgrade. It is a pretty clean car. I bought it with 56k miles on it and it was previously owned by a little old lady who only drove it to church on Sunday. Literally.

I haven't been out much since I finished it, but there's no noticeable difference sitting in my driveway with the two stations that I listen to the most.

In addition to liking the look, part of the reason I wanted to do the conversion is because I listen mostly to CDs or MP3s on a thumb drive and with my aftermarket HU, the antenna would go up everytime the HU was on. Didn't matter if I was listening to radio or not. I was getting really sick of the antenna going up every time I powered up. My son's alpine unit only activates his antenna when you switch to radio, just like the stock HU. Unfortunately my new JVC unit isn't that smart, and neither was my old Kenwood HU.
