new exaust pipeing?

i was wondering see i have a aftermarket muffle and no resnator with a pipe there thats it, i was wondering if maybe i got all new pipeing replace the old would it be worth as in increaseing hp or anything else as far as the car breatheing better? also if i did get that done i would basicley have a full aftermarket exaust right i know stupid ?

What engine do you have? How big is your current piping? If you were to increase the diameter a little bit, you should gain some power but not much. If the piping is too big, you could lose some power though.

the 5sfe im not sure the size of the pipeing or any of that im just talking about getting rid of the old factory pipeing because people told me that all that old rusted piping is robbing me of hp

If your piping is stock, I believe it's 1.75" if I recall correctly. I ended up getting custom 2.25" piping for my cat-back setup.

somebody on here told me something about putting on the headers from an old 88 89 celica and getting the exaust to because it would bolt right up? and i would get more power

if you did a full exhaust, i.e. headers, highflow cat, larger tubing, and muffler you could squeez prolly around 5 hp out of the car. you would definatly improve throttle response but all yout Tq would move up teh RPM range as a result of the non restricted flow.
