4th Generation axle nut size

i have to yank my front axles on my 97 5sfe. what size are the nuts so i can buy the socket. thanx in advance

ok did some searchin on the forums and see that gen 3 is 30mm. is the gen 3 and gen 4 the same size?

I'm not sure what the size is....but yes, the gen3 and gen4 are the same size

Yep, 30mm. Usually they take something like a 1/2" drive. Usually removal of that nut requires quite a long breaker bar, I had a 2ft. long one and had to extend it with PVC pipe to get enough torque.
